Fire Department Education

The services provided by the MBFD extend to the community in many ways:

  • Child passenger seats installation-assistance by certified technicians. Installations are by appointment only. Call 205-802-3838 for an appointment.
  • Average emergency response time is 4.25 minutes (fires and EMS situations)
  • ISO rating is Class 2 which translates into lower insurance rates
  • CPR instruction offered to the public
  • Blood pressure screening by paramedics
  • Plan review and pre-fire planning of commercial sites to enhance operational readiness
  • Fire investigations and public building inspections (a proactive approach to fire safety)
  • Fire hydrants tested semi-annually to assure adequate fire flow capability
  • Monthly school & daycare fire drills to aid in the safety of the community's most important resource, its children
  • Guided tours and fire safety presentations
  • Remembering When Program (Fire and Fall Prevention for older adults)

The MBFD responds to approximately two thousand emergencies annually. Department personnel take great pride in meeting the needs of the community during these emergencies. When the need is there, the Mountain Brook Fire Department is also there with the goal of delivering, "Quality Service for a Quality City."
