Deputy Fire Marshal

 

Adam began his career with the Mountain Brook Fire Department in 2012, being assigned to an ALS engine company.  Due to his extensive knowledge and experience with fire investigations and codes, he was promoted to Deputy Fire Marshal in 2017 and Lieutenant in 2019.

Adam holds a master’s degree in Emergency Services Management with a concentration in Homeland Security from Columbia Southern University.  Adam also holds a bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration from the University of Memphis with a minor in Public Administration.  Adam completed his paramedic training in 2011 at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis, TN and holds relevant certifications from the Alabama Fire College such as: Fire Instructor I & 2, Fire Officer I & 2, Fire Inspector I & 2 and Fire Investigator 1 & 2.  He holds a certification as a Fire Inspector through the International Code Council. 

Adam is an active member of the Alabama Association of Arson Investigators and serves on its Board of Directors.  Adam is certified by the International Association of Arson Investigators as a Certified Fire Investigator (with a vehicle endorsement), as well as a Fire Investigation Technician.  Lastly, Adam is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators.

As Deputy Fire Marshal, Adam’s duties include, but are not limited to: public safety education, fire origin and cause determination, fire inspection and code enforcement in all new and existing buildings (except single family residences), as well as, plan review for all new construction (except single family residences) to ensure compliance with the appropriate fire and life safety codes.
