Building Inspections

The Building Inspections department strives to provide the best possible service to our residents to assure protection of life, health and welfare in the City of Mountain Brook by enforcement of City codes and ordinances.

The Building Inspections department assists residents with all aspects of home improvement, remodeling and new construction projects. We assist contractors in obtaining City licenses and necessary permits. It is the responsibility of every contractor, plumber, electrician, heating and air contractor and irrigation contractor to obtain a permit before they begin work in the City of Mountain Brook. For your protection, we suggest you verify that your contractor has a permit to assure your project will be inspected for Code compliance.

Inspectors: Office hours are from 6:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday though Friday.
