Birmingham Water Works Project on Canterbury Road and Chester Road

BWWB Project on Canterbury Road and Chester Road

The Birmingham Water Works Board (BWWB) will begin a major water line upgrade on Canterbury Road between Overhill Road and Culver Road and on Chester Road between Cahaba Road and the cul-de-sac on June 1, 2021.

This project will be performed in two (2) phases.  Phase 1 will upgrade the existing 2” water main to either a 4” water main or an 8” water main depending on the section along Canterbury Road.  Phase 2 will upgrade the existing 2” water main to a 4” water main along Chester Road.  The overall project is expected to take 75 calendar days to complete.

At times, portions of these roads will be closed and traffic detoured around the work areas.  BWWB Construction Crew is the Pipeline Contractor on this project.  Douglass W. Stockham IV, Engineer, will be the Project Manager and Larry Calhoun, Construction Superintendent, is the Supervisor over all BWWB Construction Crews.

All questions and concerns related to this project should be sent to construction@bwwb.org.  All inquiries will be reviewed daily by BWWB staff and responses generated in a timely manner.

BWWB will place door hangers on all affected residences by May 24th.
