Glen Merchant is the Building Official for the City of Mountain Brook. Glen joined the Mountain Brook team in June of 2015 and has over 20 years of experience in the construction and inspection industry.
Glen is active in the North Central Alabama Chapter of the International Code Council and the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, and is the current Secretary of the Alabama Association of Plumbing, Mechanical and Gas Inspectors.
Glen holds multiple International Code Council Certifications. He is a Certified Storm Water Inspector and Master Plumber by the State of Alabama. He is a graduate of the Tuscaloosa Law Enforcement Academy. He also has a Bachelor of Science Degree from UAB.
Glen and his wife JoAnna have 4 sons. He is active in his church and enjoys his large family.
Responsibilities include:
1) approval of building permits;
2) plan review; and
3) enforcement of subdivision regulations and zoning regulations.
