PARK CLOSURE: Jemison Trail

Jemison Trail - Park Closed

Jemison Trail will be closing  Monday, June 26 to begin the renovation of the trail.

The trail will be closed for approximately 6 months to allow the construction company to have full access to the park and be able to move as quickly as they can.  This will be the most efficient way to complete the project. The benches and other accessories of the park are being removed now in preparation for the closing.  These items are in storage and will be returned. The City of Mountain Brook, the Friends of Jemison Park, and many donors have put over $2.7 million into making this trail better overall for everyone.  We appreciate your patience during these next few months as we make this plan a reality.

Please take time to visit the NEW Chief’s Woodland Trail that can be accessed from Park Brook Road until early August.  This new gravel trail will give you a different view of Shades Creek while meandering through native woods that have not been visited in decades.  At the moment it is a dead end trail, but you will get a different experience each way.  One of our goals is to add another bridge at the end to connect it back to the Jemison Trail.  If you would like to make a donation that would help fund this, please visit the Friends of Jemison Park’s website at www.friendsofjemisonpark.org.

Watkins Trace Trail, the Nature Trail, the Irondale Furnace Trail and our extensive sidewalk system are still open for your enjoyment.  Overton Park and Cahaba River Walk have loop trails and offer other recreational opportunities as well.

For updates please check the city’s website at www.mtnbrook.org under Parks and Recreation.  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Shanda Williams at williamssh@mtnbrook.org.
