CONTEST EXTENDED: Why Do You Love Mountain Brook?

Why Do You Love Mountain Brook?

As we transition from winter to spring, it is a great time to celebrate this great city, so I have decided to have a contest that includes all ages. Send us an email telling us why you love living here and we will publish it on the city website. We will award 20 prizes of $25 of Village Gold over the next few weeks to our favorite responses chosen by our three judges, Sam Gaston, City Manager, Janet Forbes, Assistant to the City Manager, and Suzan Doidge, Executive Director, Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce.

I love hearing from our youngsters, so please encourage your children or grandchildren to participate. This would make a great conversation around the dinner table. Maybe you could make this a family project and do your submission through a family spokesperson. I know you share a similar love of Mountain Brook but maybe for different reasons and I would like to hear from you.

Rules:

- Contest extended by popular demand! Submit your email to contest@mtnbrook.org through the month of April.
- Include your name (and age, if a student). We will only publish first name and last initial unless you request otherwise.
- We will publish the responses on the city website as they come in…so visit the website often! www.mtnbrook.org.
- We will note the winners of each $25 Village Gold on the website and you can drop by city hall to pick up your prize.

Join me in kicking off Spring by sharing what you love most about our great city. They say a rising tide lifts all boats. I say, “A grateful attitude lifts all spirits!”

Mayor Stewart H. Welch, III

"We just moved to Mountain Brook.  What we love more than the ten minute commute over brooks and alongside streams, through the changing of leaves and seasons - what we love more than the James Beard Award Winning restaurants, championship golf courses, quaint villages with old school soda & ice cream shops, the clean air and clean streets, are the HUMANS living in Mountain Brook.   We have been welcomed by thoughtful, friendly, inclusive and loving friends and families whom have taken us under their wings, hosted gatherings for our family, invited us to games, concerts, events, trips and into their homes, waved from their cars while passing by, and overall made us feel like we belong to a community.  Thank you Mountain Brook."

"Three aspects of Mountain Brook that I love are the scenery, safety, and the school system.... As a citizen on Mountain Brook, I feel safe walking my dog on my own, or sitting outside during every hour of the day...At the Junior High and Elementary school I went to, ideas could be proposed to officials, no matter how big or small they were. " -- Caroline L. Age 14
