Parks and Recreation Department

The Mountain Brook Parks and Recreation Department oversees the maintenance of six City parks and over ninety parcels of right-of-way property.  The department's office as well as the maintenance facilities are located at the Mountain Brook High School.

Park & Recreation Goals & Objectives 2009:

The Park & Recreation Department strives to improve the well being of the residents of the City by providing an attractive, clean, and safe environment for active and passive recreational activities.

Parks and Recreation Projects Planned For 2010:

The Parks & Recreation department will be relocating this year from it's current location behind Mountain Brook High School down the hill close to the Gymnastics Center.  This is part of the renovations that the High School has been undergoing in the last year.  The area where the office is located now will became a parking area for the High School.  The roadway leading down to the Gymnastics Center will be resurfaced when all of the construction is completed and a sidewalk will be installed in this area.

Beautification of the traffic island at Balmora/Hasting.

Replacement of play equipment at the High Athletic Complex.

A restroom is in the plans for Overton Park.

The Friends of Jemison Park will soon begin work on reprinting booklet on the history of Jemison Park.  If you would like to make a donation toward this effort, please forward your tax deductible contribution to:
