Mr. Robert "Zeke" Ezekiel is the Fire Chief of the City of Mountain Brook, Alabama. His responsibilities include providing leadership and management direction for an emergency services organization which is comprised of sixty-three career members. The organization is the primary provider of fire prevention, fire suppression and full emergency pre-hospital patient care -- including a mbulance service -- for the 21,000 residents residing in the thirteen square miles of the City of Mountain Brook.

Education: Chief Ezekiel received his Associates degree in Fire Science from Jefferson State Community College in 1990. He continued his education by completing his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Public Safety Administration from Athens State College graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1992. Believing that education is an important element to successfully managing an organization, Chief Ezekiel continued his formal education by completing his Master’s degree in Public Sector/Private Sector Management (MPPM) at Birmingham Southern College in 1995. Chief Ezekiel recognized that professional education is as important as formal education; therefore, he entered the Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP) at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland and graduated in July, 2000.

Professional Background: Chief Ezekiel has been in the fire service for 34 years. He started his career with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service as a firefighter in 1973 and worked his way through the ranks to Chief Officer. He proudly accepted the opportunity to serve as Fire Chief for the City of Mountain Brook in 1993.

Civic Interests: Chief Ezekiel was a member of the 2002-2003 Leadership Birmingham Class. Zeke is past President of the Board of Directors for the Family Skills Center, a non-profit organization whose mission is to negate child abuse. He is a current member and past president of the Mountain Brook Exchange Club. He is past president of the Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs and holds membership in the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs, and locally the Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association. Additionally, he has served as chairman of the Alabama Joint Fire Council. Zeke additionally serves as a member of the advisory council for the Fire Science Program at Jefferson State Community College. He is active in all of these organizations.

Personal: Chief Ezekiel is married (Kay) and has two children: Chad and Jenna. His hobbies include bass fishing competitively and "playing" with computers.
